How to become a peer

Are you interested in getting involved in our project ‘SALAM’?

Would you like to know how you can work with us as a peer in the field of HIV and STI prevention?

We offer a comprehensive and hands-on qualification, so you can start working as a peer afterwards.

The training course has a duration of about 3 months and is free of charge with a limited number of participants. It takes place on two weekends and two additional days.

Requirements to attend the training:
  • Migration background
  • First language in English, French, Arabic, Farsi or any other language
  • Basic knowledge of German

Training Contents

Cross-cultural sensitization
The concept of culture, one’s own identity, one’s and external perception, prejudices and discrimination

health / disease
Health in general, the German healthcare system, contraceptives and pregnancy

STIs and HIV
Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), HIV and AIDS world-wide, life with HIV, legal aspects of HIV, test types

Sexual Diversity
Awareness of sexuality and language, sexual self-determination, gender awareness, sexual identities

Upon completion of the training

After completing the training successfully, you will receive a certificate of participation. Holding this certificate will make you eligible to work in a local ‘Aidshilfe’ in Baden-Württemberg.
